Hi girls! Hope all the planning is going well!
Just thought I would start a new discussion after reading another post about saving money for the wedding! We all obviously have to watch the pounds when saving for a wedding so am just wondering what thing/s are you looking forward to buying once the wedding is over and don't have to keep saving for the big day? Ours is a new car!! x

@missengaged we're hoping to pay another 10% off our mortgage in January 2013. We know we can stay in this house when we have our 1st child but after that we'd like to have a bigger house...and houses around here really aren't cheap! xx

Ooo great question. We have our fab home, each have a car.... I suppose we'd then be saving for a baby!! We've both agreed we'd start trying again straight after the wedding. This year H2B started a saving fund through the police and we decided we would save £5 a month and then give it to our child when s/he is 18 as it would be over £1000.
I cant wait to start buying bits and bobs and decorating a nursery though. Im going to relish that.

We're hoping to make our landlord an offer on our house, but if we can't get a decent mortgage we're going to start trying for a baby emoticon

@gina130284 You obviously know people with kids then...ha ha!! Yes, I have two and trust me they are costly...ha ha! (But well worth it I must add!! ) Aw, bless decorating a nursery is so much fun, you'll love it!!! We are like you though, have a lovely home and a car each but we will also be saving for our second home! Want to keep this one (rent it) so down the line when we sell the kids will have something secure for their future, but once our little girl finishes infants(2014) we are planning on moving into a large house so I too look forward to re-decorating kids rooms again!! Good luck with trying! How many do you want?!x

After endlessly talking about our plans for the wedding this is our favourite topic! It's so depressing having no money except for savings but at the same time I do wonder how materialistic me and h2b are without realising!
We have a 3 bedroom house and 2 cars. I would like to put a porch on the front but not sure. Top priority is carpet in the living room and doors between living room and kitchen diner with a lick of paint.
We would like to start a family ASAP and my sister has said she will pass on my niece's cot, Moses basket and all other baby stuff so hoping we just need to save to make sure we have enough to cover bills when I'm off on maternity because I earn more than h2b.

 Oooo good topic!

I'm having trouble narrowing it down to one thing. The biggie is a house, but that requires more saving! To be honest we're both really looking forward to being more spontaneous and being able to treat each other when we want to rather than having to wait until birthdays and Christmas! Meals out, cinema and theatre. Date night every night!

@missengaged We have asked for gifts of money towards a new bathroom as our wedding present so that will be first on the list (we might even order it before the wedding as they'll have lots of cheap new year deals in the shops). Then I finish paying off my car in September, after that we'll carry on saving for babies and our future and I agree with @fabulousfebruary, it'll be nice to be a bit spontaneous and go out a bit more after 3 years of saving! (We already have a savings account and contingency money for when a little one does arrive - can't wait!!) x

Well we are trying to find a house at the minute but there's nothing about at all for the money we have. We've been trying for a baby but thats on hold until after the wedding. So a new house and at least two more kids emoticon Ooohhh and hopefully I can start an open university course in Psycology, finish off what I started in college and gave up to work x

We are looking forward to moving, althought its only 15 miles away, everyone is reacting like if australia we're moving to lol We are moving to Isle of Arran, I'm taking my kids home, giving them the best that I can. If you have never been, I strongly suggest you visit it once in your life or at least google it to see how perfect it is xx

@missengaged H2B is desperate for a new car, and wants to swap his 'granny magnet' for a BMW! I've told him that once we've moved house he can, so another year or so after the wedding before that happens. Poor boy hates his car...! For me, I want to make sure that our new home is perfect, then we can start trying for a family emoticon xx

for me it's definitely moving in with my h2b, at the minute with the wedding to pay for we can't really afford to do it but once the wedding is all paid for we'll be able to start looking for a little place of our own. I really can't wait cause it totally sucks only seeing him a few times a week
