Any one getting wed in 2013?

alisonf  Well, welcome to this website!! Lots of brides on here are getting married this year or next and even one in 2014 but 2013 ... hummmm not sure! Anyone getting married then?

mrsstockton2b  We have decided on April 19th.
We have looked at a few and we think we've decided but my H2b thinks its too soon to be even looking let alone booking things!! He said I could book it if i wanted but i think he just wants a quiet life.
We went to a friends wedding on Saturday, now I want to get married NOW!! Really can't wait but it seems so far away.

lmcadams1  im going to book my venue in may, so that will be the 2year mark, i just cant wait and im sooo excited. ive been looking at loads of venues online and orderd lots of wedding packs so i will be able to narrow it down to 3venues wen the time does come.
is anyone from ireland on here?

lmcadams1  @mrsstockton2b i know it seems soo far away, but it will be alot less stressfull, i orderd my self a wedding planner book and a organiser from ebay and they arrived today, £6.33 for both i love them hehe but you can plan now and start to buy any time all the little things that can help you along the way price wise.

maimes  We're hoping to get married in 2013 but I'm not really sure how likely it is going to be We still live with our parents as we were both studying and trying to save for our own place, I have just graduated and have a job for a year (cue no spending of wages and woo we have a deposit for a house!!) h2b graduates next year so we're living in hope that next year we will both manage to find full time work, get a house and then eventually plan a wedding!!
I say eventually plan a wedding....I have kinda got a library of magazines already and have narrowed it down to three venues in my head lol!!!

My sister got married in 2006, I asked her where she started, she suggested to start with the venue. I had already fallen in love my dress by then, though I haven't bought it yet.
Again, cost is the reason we're waiting so long. I am currently at uni and will graduate in 2012. Alothough my H2b is working full time, with rent, bills and 2 children we just can't afford it on his wage alone.
Venue is decided, we're trying to save a deposit to secure our date. We recently visited and there are currently no bookings for our date so fingers crossed it will still be available!!
I have overwhelmed myself with wedding fayres, mags, websites etc. There is just so much to plan!!

sonyaswan  I'm the one 2014 bride on here- my reasonings are similar to everyone else's- uni finishes in 2013 and we need to save. Just be wary of going to bridal places, I went with my mum to go dress browsing and whenever I told anyone that the wedding will be in 2014, they said that it was too long to wait and there's "no point" in looking at dresses because styles will change and who knows how the relationship might turn out! well, I don't care for style in normal life, and just wanted to get an idea (and mum wanted to get the idea too) of the kinds of dresses I like... and why would I plan the wedding earlier because I think it might not work out? that's just stupid. There was only one dress shop that we went to that were nice to us about it, and I think they had the prettiest dresses anyway (with the cheapest price tags!) ...so what if its a long engagement? we still love each other!
the good thing about having such a long time is that you can find the perfect things for a cheaper price. I already have lots sorted out already, and I've already bought the bridesmaids dresses (I couldn't resist! I found them online and they were perfect, and was afraid that I'd never find them again- got 4 dresses for 3 bridesmaids {in case of adjustments needed} for £139.94 including P&P from America ^^)
anyway, I've gone on about my plans for too long now, but good luck with all of your plans! ^^

clairew26  I am getting married on the 4th August 2012, we have the venue booked, Photographer booked and all the groomsmen suites hire. My advice is the sooner you book your venue the better and you can usually haggle on the price. I mananged to get 50% off each room at my venue as this was a offer for booking in 2010. we saved over £1,000! Also when you have your venue you have your exact date, and this helps when you are getting quotes for other things for your wedding such as stationery etc.

Also alot of things if you book early you can get fixed at the price you booked it at, as remember things like photographers, venues, caterers, florists, suit hire, etc go up by 10% at least each year. I have saved so much money already by booking and fixing them at 2010 prices. It helps as we are having to pay for the wedding ourselves so we can save and pay deposits for things at the same time. Then the balance does not usually have to be paid till 6 to 1 month before the wedding. Enjoy the planning

jennalcooper  I too am getting married May 2013. I am keen to book the venue but am worried about sounding silly booking too far in advance. My reasons for wanting to get it booked are, we bdefinately want to get married in May and May has two bank holidays. Some venues are more expensive bank holiday weekends and so if this is the case at my preferred venue that leaves two dates in may and they could get booked up. I am going to phone the wedding co-ordinator at the venue and ask when he is booking into i think.

missmaxine  well were both living at my parents so your not the only one in that situation @maimes but im not in uni and partner works so we dont have much to worry about, i dont mind being married at my parents home lol

give_me_strength  Ours is 26th May 2012 - so 22 months and 6 days to go! Feels like forever - but I already have some table decorations, and my shoes, I've found a dress I love (but a designer friend is going to design me on instead), and will probably book the venue in a weeks time! I want to do so much more but don't want to rush ahead and not have anything to do nearer the time! I think I should take more time and enjoy the process instead of just worrying about it like I am now!

shellyriannon  Hi @sonyaswan - I'm getting married October 2011 and I am still getting funny looks when telling the dress owners my date as if I'm looking too soon!!!! If I was you, I'd tell them you are getting married in May next year - they will be falling over themselves to get your business and how will they ever know??? You can go back nearer your date and if they remember you, tell them you put it off for 'family reasons' its none of their business - and fashions don't change that much with wedding dresses unless you are looking at top of the range designer. I got married 1st time round in 1999 and if I looked hard enough I could pretty much find a dress identical if I wanted. MY tastes have changed however and I am looking for something different this time - but not massively so.... little details like, I want strapless this time, and instead of a-line I want a drop waist.

You go and look if you want to - I don't see any harm in it!! AND its fun!! It would be weird doing it after you have married so you might as well make the most of it now!!!!!!!!!

well I'm glad I'm not the only one getting problems booking early in advance; we're booking for April 2012 and got lots of "you're organised" comments from venues! I don't see the problem, if you're working to a budget, how else do you know how much you need to save without choosing a place and getting prices? also as @clairew26 says - you can get some fab deals! some places say the price will have gone up but we've been offered to hold the VAT at the current rate (as obviously that goes up in Jan) and also to fix the whole price until 2012, which is fab when the costs go up year on year.
When I was first engaged obviously the first thing I wanted to do was look at dresses and had a really snotty woman in a dress shop speak to me like a child as I didn't have a venue booked - so as @shellyriannon says I just said "may next year" and people were lovely! All I wanted was an idea of costs of what i liked, what looked good on me etc - it just so happens I think i've found my dream dress but that wasn't part of the plan!

loz2879  hi there! book early cos then you could be garanteed a cheaper deal! we booked for our wedding nov 2011 and teh vat was frozen! and vat has goes up to 20% next year so we have saved a lot really!!! all the best for your wedding! who cares if long engagement do what you want to do xx

sonyaswan  @shellyriannon oh yes, the next time my mum and I go dress browsing, we are saying its June 18th next year hehe (though that will make me want to move it to that date cause its closer!) and yes, dress shopping IS fun! ^^

@loz2879 I got my dresses from ebay, but as I say, they're not actually advertised as bridesmaids dresses, more as "cruise ship dresses" - but I have strange taste and want my bridesmaids to feel comfy so they weren't going to be a regular "bridesmaids dress style" I still love them though! ^^ - I orgiginally found them elsewhere but couldn't find them to buy them, so when I saw them on ebay I jumped at the chance to get them! (see my photoblog if you like, its on there ^^)

mrsstockton2b  I have been dress "shopping" alot recently. Mt step mum booked the appointment and told them I was geting married next year, it's amazing how helpfu they are when they think they might get a sale!! After my disaster buying on ebay I have stuck to shops. I love going and trying on lots of dresses and seeing what suits me an what doesn't. After trying several dresses I think I have changed my mind on the dress that I thought was my dream dress too. I recently read in a magazine that you only get this one chance to try on "these lovely reations" so make the most of it!!
Although we havent booked venue or anything else yet, I have bought my tiara, sounds strange that thats the first thing I buy but it was a bargain and I couldn't resist!
