We've been thinking about Finalstitch.co.uk and wondering whether the name rings the right bells as to what and who we are - a home for all brides and future brides to talk about all stuff wedding related.
So, who better else to ask that you lovely ladies, what name would you call our site? Please let us know your thoughts, especially thinking back to when you 1st saw us (whether in google search or an advertisement) what name would make you want to take another look at us and let you know that we're all about weddings?

tinks1985@boycee i'm not sure what i would call the site, but i do think finalstitch doesn't necessarily scream weddings. My h2b actually asked me the other day why the forum is called finalstitch as he couldn't see the connection.

Oooh, I like the Gettinghitched idea, what about "Tying The Knot" or Bridebook? total rip I know, but I always tell people FS is like Facebook for Brides lol x

jen150912@boycee I've always associated Final Stitch with weddings - the superstition that you leave the final stitch of your dress undone until the day of the wedding (or suchlike!)
Anyways - I like the horseandcarriage suggestion - reminds me of Married with Children! - but links to our wedding community too. Will be sad to see FS's name go... xx

As far as alternative names go how about "all things bridal", "let's get hitched" or "something blue"

ohhh ladies, keep them coming! Loving all the ideas, and will put them forward into the pot if a change of name is on the cards. Iphone app is definitely on the list of things we would to have also, but that may take bit more time.
Of course, if we do change name we need to see if the domain name already exists, for e.g. bride2be.co.uk and bridebook both sound fab but are taken But others you have suggested are now hmmm neither is wedding2be.co.uk? @jen150912@missengaged it's interesting to hear how some people related finalstitch to wedding planning and others didn't - hence maybe finding something more universal.

I think this place is completely unique, it stands out from other bridal forums (there is always some bitching going on on other forums and I have not seen anything but niceness here) so it needs a name that stands out from the other dozens of forums. I think it's important that the name reflects what a great community this is, like "bridesunite" or something similar. Whatever it will be, I'll definitely be recommending it to anyone who will listen lol x

Thanks for all the ideas ladies, knew you would come up with a variety and interesting ideas There is no definite name change, but we were wondering what you all thought about the name when you first saw it, whether it attracted you and if you knew what we were all about from first glance.
will of course keep you all posted and I also love the special home we have here for brides, so something like sharing or unite is also nice xx

No don't change it! I saw it advertised on Facebook and alongside a wedding image, you couldn't exactly mistake its purpose. As long as it is advertised in this way, I don't think there is a problem. I purposely avoid sites with names such as 'getting hitched' etc (ones obviously wedding based) as I know they will be very mainstream, commercial and usually tacky.

I like final stitch as a name as it links in with traditional wedding ideas/superstitions. I love the site and think an Android app would be awesome xx

It's been great to hear all your thoughts and ideas - the creativity of all your brides to be and brides is one of the many things I love about finalstitch.co.uk After some deliberation, Final Stitch (the name) will stay as it is, but to help make it clearer for new people to the site I will create a little article on the history of Final Stitch and you'll soon see some new wording under the Final Stitch title on the main pages.
