personally I don't think you should buy them as in my opinion (and I might get stoned for this lol) men's shoes aren't as important as women's shoes, firstly because they will be half-covered by their trouser legs and secondly no one really inspects men's shoes anyway. As @mysterymeg said as long as they're all black (and maybe the same texture e.g. shiny or matte) it should be OK for them to wear their own shoes, especially that most men have their own black shoes anyway, why buy another pair? I don't think any of the groomsmen would expect you to buy their shoes anyway. There will be enough for you to pay for as it is, you don't need the added expense x

I had this debate with h2b! He thought all the men would look better with the same shoes, I thought as long as there all black it didn't matter.....he won, but only because none of the 4 groomsmen own a pair of decent black shoes!!! We picked up some reasonably priced leather ones from the suit hire shop xx

Were hiring the mens suits but they are all sorting their own shoes. I mean as long as they're black noone will know they're not exactly the same and buying them all shoes will be v expensive.

We were lucky in the fact that the shoes came as part of the package of the mens suit hire but if this had not been the case we were going to tell them all to wear there own...that as long as they were smart and black we didnt mind x

My h2b was a groomsman at his brothers wedding last year- his brother told him he needed to buy some black shoes. I can't remember what type they were but h2b got them from good old m&s and they cost about £20.

H2b has already said he will be wearing theses shoes to our wedding as they were comfortable but looked smart. As long as he other me wear smart black shoes (as suits are grey) I don't mind if they are different. My bridesmaids will be providing their own shoes. emoticon

We have grey suits too and luckily H2B has grey shoes but I won't be expecting the rest of the bridal party to wear grey shoes. Black's fine as long as they're smart. When Steve was best man to his best man, he was told to wear smart black shoes as 'everyone owns decent shoes' so I'll be throwing that back at the best man!! I trust my dad and brother to wear decent shoes emoticon Think it depends who's in your bridal party but mens shoes all look similar anyway!!
