Honeymoon in Cornwall, St. Ives or the UK

charlie11_12_11  @lollyjane Iv visited St ives but not stayed there but it is a beautiful place! Have you looked at the Kent area? Iv herd good reviews of the black horse inn, in Maidstone! and Oakwood house also in Maidstone is lovely! xx

danndy44  I got to St Ives every Christmas some beautiful shops and lots of lovely restaurants. Depending on your budget on where you stay but I stayed in a cottage in Mousehole (South Cornwall) with this company http://www.boutique-retreats.co.uk/ and it was the most prefect break, beautiful cottages and they really good on detail. Parking can be a huge problem in St Ives, as can any Cornish destination. Also nice destinations in Cornwall are Polperro or the South Devon coast is a beautiful destination as well. not a big place tho, its near cambourne and has a lovely holiday spot called the clowance estate with independant shallies and so on.

l4d  st ives is my favourite place in the uk, i would love to go for our honeymoon, but have decided to go long haul as once we have kids we are unlikely to get the chance. I also can highly recommend Polperro if you like and want to have a very quiet honeymoon. It isnt very glamourous in Polperro, its a traditional working fishing village and personally i prefer it in the middle of winter when the tourists are gone and the wind howls around the little lanes and the sea crashes into the harbour and you can get tucked up in the pub with a huge plate of fish pie. Depends what time of year you are going. St Ives has two great beaches, lots of restaurants and pubs, and i think is very romantic. You will have a great time and i am quite jealous already!

tassarella  Another place to look at is Paignton. There are some very cute b&b's in the area, a lovely beach, a water park and a brilliant zoo. We often take day trips up there (I live in Plymouth). Devon and Cornwall are both lovely places to come for a holiday

licclevicki  Yes love devon and cornwall especially north devon and cornwall. St ives is beautiful. Spent some time there a few months ago. I dont think you will be disappointed.

jennieq  @lollyjane Hey I live few miles down the road from st ives and love the place.. beautiful setting for honeymoon. there are some beautiful hotels depending on type of place you want to stay. Tregenna castle is lovely.. in gorgeous grounds up above st ives with gorgeous sea views. x

aisling  St Ives is lovely. I stayed there a few times a few years back and loved it. I stayed in a lovely little fisherman's cottage in the town and in one of the hotels. Great transport links around the rest of Cornwall too!

thanks for all your comments - sounds like there is a lot of love on here for St. Ives and Cornwall and Devon in general. Last time went went to Cornwall we stayed in Watergate Bay, which was lovely (and has one of Jamie Oliver's fabulous 'fifteen' restaurants) but the only problem was there was pretty much only the beach, a couple of restaurants and that was it. If we wanted anything else it was a drive away. We are looking for somewhere where there are a few shops, a nice selection of restaurants/cafes etc. so we can just have a really relaxing time and not have to keep flipping coins for who has to drive everywhere. Would St. Ives suit this? xx

jennieq  @lollyjane theres quite alot in st ives.. lots of cafes, restaurants and bars. lots of different activities on your door step. some great places to visit nearby with lots of beaches.. all very different from each other. some other great stuff locally: got st michaels mount in penzance, the minack theatre (outside theatre carved into cliffs) in porthcurno and many more. hope thats helped x
