Hello ladies, just wondering if any of you have been to croatia as i am thinking it sounds lovely for our weeks honeymoon in august. But i need some help, it seems it is quite big, and has lots of islands so i was wondering if anyone could tell me more about it so i can work out whether we want to get a hotel in the south near dubrovnik, or north near split? We want something fairly luxurious, but not over the top. We usually holiday in cornwall and love the coast and quiet places rather than lying by a pool and going to the disco, so thought croatia might be a sunny overseas option to make it more special. Any suggestions?

It can be quite touristy in some places. I recommend Rab island as it is quitet and quite wild. I've been a few times and Rab was my favourite. Istria and Krk areas are also great but a bit lauder. Croatia would be absolutely lovely for a honemoon.

missglovesteas@l4d We are thinking there too as our dream honeymoon is far too much, I was chatting to a friend about it yesterday who'd been she said Dubrovnik was lovely and that way you can still access beaches etc, but still do some sightseeing things as this is what we want... Just so long as we find somewhere with a nice room to hole up in sometimes ;D x

We always had a car there and that helps a lot as there is so much to see. Or maybe hire a scooter like some people do

boycee@l4d@missglovesteas@joannna I went to croatia for my summer break, drove to Zadar and then took a boat off to the islands near there like Preko. We than hired out a yacht (with a captain) and then travelled down the various islands. I couldn't recommend it more - beautiful scenery, hot weather (thank goodness for sea breeze) and we could start and stop off at whatever places we wanted - national parks, historical cities and castles, beautiful coves and secluded beaches, it has it all Plus things are cheap out there too!

boycee@missglovesteas hmm I was rather lucky in that a friend had organised it for 3 other couples, one dropped out so we came along instead. I will ask if they have any agency details. But there were many charter companies frm the marina in Preko. We went end August when avg temp meant to be around 28, it was like 35 I hear March time the hottest is around 17, they say anytime may-sept is best time to go. update this when i hear more x
