  • Do not know when the wedding will be
Hi I've just started planning my wedding on a very tight budget and I'm looking for any hints or tips to help me save costs. The wedding is going to hopefully ( as in not fully discussed) at my church in Catterick Garrison with my reception and Richmond Cricket Club. My colour scheme is red, green and gold and my theme is Christmas. I saw a link to this site on one of the facebook wedding groups

@littledragon1986 ebay was my godsend when i was getting married.. i also had help from family which was a big help.. sell anything you don't need and put the money in the wedding fund.. remember its about the marriage and not the wedding you dont need over expensive things just stick to what you need then start buying the little bonuses once you know you can afford them.. if you need any help just message me will be glad to help x

We're hoping to have the ceremony at St Aidan's Church as that's where I go and also where I'm assistant Brownie Leader.

I'm planning on DIY invites and have got the favors at a price where it's cheaper than doing our own. Got flower-girl dress off buy/sell/swap last night for £7.50. It's everything else now.

@littledragon1986 Hi welcome to final stitch! I agree with others that diy-ing as much as possible will help with costs- i.e. invites, cake, flowers, etc! This site is great for tips and there are some very creative people on here who I'm sure will inspire you to get making things! Sites like eBay and vistaprint are useful for cheap bargains too! Happy planning! x

Congrats on your engagement. Quite a few florists do fake flowers now and more often than not look better than the real ones and the bonus is you get to keep them! Happy hunting. x

@littledragon1986 Congrats and welcome...prepare to get addicted!! Many brides are on a budget these days and I know there are loads of hints and tips the girls can help with.

Dresses - go to sales or visit a few websites which the girls mention on here and see what you fancy.

Flowers - as @hellsbells75 says fake/artificial flowers are alot cheaper and look just as good a lot of the time. Im getting married abroad so having artificial flowers made by @missengaged whose a member on here.

Bridesmaids, best men and ushers - if you're on a budget keep these to a minimum. Less cost and Im sure the girls will agree- less stress!!

Theme - get as much as you can out of season. When christmas time comes around everything will be alot cheaper!

Hope this helps xx
