Hi guys....
My younger cousin told me about this site as it helped her with her wedding plans for her wedding last April.

I have only been engaged since Boxing Day (surprise for my 28th birthday!!) and have wasted no time in starting to think about everything!! Even the date!!! May bank holiday 2013!!

My mum told me to get a book together with all details from budget, possible venues even own to the favours!! I have taken her up on this idea and have started searching around for the perfect venue, dress and bridesmaid dresses at a decent price!

Any help and advice would be very much appreciated!!

@lucyhare - welcome to the site and congratulations on your engagement. I agree with @seckerette a good place to start is by thinking of your guest list. And then I would start looking at some venues and start booking because I think bank holidays are popular times and you may find that some venues are already booked! Good luck with your planning and look forward to seeing some of your ideas

I use the wedding plandroid app, very useful esp for the guest list coz a lot of people have rsvp'd verbally and my memory is horrific!

@lucyhare congratulations how exciting! I would agree with @seckerette start with your guest list of people who you & your partner definitely want to see you get married then start looking into venues. We wanted the June 2012 bank holiday but it had already been booked and that was last january so 18 months before the actual day!

Be ready people will say are you not booking things too early but for the essentials (venue) you have to.

It's also a good time for wedding fayres for you to get pampered and loads of freebies and ideas.

Mostly enjoy looking into everything as you won't get this time again

What is the private area for midland brides? How do you join??

I told my other half about having to book the venue well in advanced and he was
shocked that you had to get organised so quickly!! I tell ya men!!!

hey congrats on the engagement!! I'm planning to get married in may 2013 as well!! we are going to book the church in the next few weeks and I have my dress already so don't worry about being organised!! Enjoy it!! x

@lucyhare if you look on the left hand side of the main forum page you should see a link with a key next to it which says "west midlands brides". I think you have to send a message to the discussion administrator to get them to add you to the list of people with access. It's a good place to chat with other brides from the midlands and perhaps pick up some region specific tips.
