a kettlebell is the best thing equipment wise i've found, because a) it brings your heart rate up so you burn calories, b it makes you build lean muscle (not big muscles, lean muscles i.e. toning) so that you burn more calories when doing nothing, and it works multiple muscle groups in one hit. I bought one off ebay for £15 and it's brill. I do training with my personal trainer too, but in between i do everything i need to with that and a skipping rope! you can just head outside to the garden - or even in your living room - and do a routine of 10 mins of different exercises, then slowly build up. With this it's about quality rather than quantity as you're basically doing interval training which makes you continue to burn calories for much longer afterwards than you do with basic running etc, so less really is more! You can also find a load of exercises to do on youtube. To be honest you could do most of the exercises with a set of dumbells, but the great thing about kettlebells is the imbalanced position it puts you in makes you work your core with all exercises. I went to leeds with work recently, took my kettlebell and did a 1/2 hour session in my room, can't think of anything else i could do that with in such a small space! worth looking into x

loves_to_dance@mrssteel2b If you want fun exercises, then the Zumba game for the Wii is good. Even the 20 minute workouts get my pulse up and the dancing is fun. I've not been monitoring my weight closely, so couldn't say for sure if it is having an impact but my impression is that it is helping me stay in shape. There are workouts of different lengths, so good for fitting in around other things.

Davina fit DVD!!! It's brilliant, love the arm workout but you need free weights to do it (or bottles of water?) best exercise DVD I've had! X

mrslightfoot@mrssteel2b Dancing is an excellent way to lose weight (when i was teaching i had to eat lotsa fast food to make sure i didnt drop below a size 8!) especially stuff you'd do with children, best thing is its free too, all you gotta do is stick on a cheesy music cd and go nuts theres also different types of sit ups which work on different parts of your stomach (legs flat, legs bent, legs lifted, and leg lifts as a pose to body lifts for that puppy fat area, but with those you gotta raise your bum off the floor and get them legs up high)

goldentramp@mrssteel2b Mr Motivator - BLT on DVD - he is brilliant. Nice gentle intro if you've not exercised for a while (I strongly believe that you have to introduce yourself gently to exercise otherwise you will hate it and not do it). It has fun exercises and he's always telling you that you look great and to smile. Once you feel comfortable with that, I would progress to Zumba (which you don't have to on Wii - I don't own a games console).
OR if you're finding it hard to find the time, 15 mins a day with this kind of thing: http://www.marksdailyapple.com/15-minute-workout/ or just google 15 minute daily workout for other things. I lost loads of weight by not drinking and walking everywhere, but it obviously depends on life demands.
