Too early to buy wedding dress?

mrsclarke15_08_10  i bought mine a year before but it was because i found the perfect dress, i didn't want to wait and then it not to be a current style and not for sale any more!!

rb2b  I also have a 2 year wait, i am gonna try an loose a bit more weight and start lookin next early next year i think. And in the mean-time i can be saving more money. I might start tryin some on but i wont be buying until next year

wenna84  I recommend u wait unless u find ur dream dress, i bought a dress i liked of ebay cheaply two years before my wedding, then saw another one i preferred and then another one. I now have three. Luckily they were all cheap off ebay. So be careful. xx

mizza1987  a girl i work with got her dress TWO YEARS ago and is getting married July next year and she's been on a strict eating regime since and won't eat chocolate or cake. now me personally, could not do this - i'd be miserable and grouchy!! i'm going to start looking soon for my wedding next august........! xx

meeeshel  I have paid the deposit for mine already, and it'll get here approx a year before the wedding. This means though that i can pay the rest of the amount in installments which is fab as it was more than i planned to pay but i just fell in love, i also got it just before the increase in prices for the VAT increase. I still like looking at pics of dresses but they just make me smile as they just make me think of my dress and how perfect it is and how much i can't wait to wear it. I think if you've found "THE ONE" you can buy whenever but if you have any doubt it's best to wait in case you change your mind. x

samluv85  I have paid the deposit for mine 3 months ago and i have 363 days till my wedding now, if you find the perfect dress and then at least put the deposit down and pay in installments thats what im doing its fantastic to keep costs in check x

willnotbite  never to early! if you have seen the dress and its the perfect one do it! dont rush till you find the one though! and you will know, I put my deposit on my dress 10th Sep (just under 2 months ago) and I get married in 3 years :D and as above pay in instalments as it does work out cheaper mine is around the £900 mark and way over what I originally wanted to spend but because I have a while until they take my measurements for the dress to be made for me it works :D

jetsettingbride  I got my dress 1 year ago (getting married in 1 month)... but remember when you order your dress, most shops recommend that you order it at least 5-6 months before your wedding day, to allow for it to be made, and for you to alter it. Otherwise you are at the mercy of what you can get in a short time. I have an online bridal shop, and a bride who is getting married in January still has not ordered a dress off me, and I'm drawing the line that after this weekend, I will not take a dress order from her, as I cannot guarantee that the dress will be ready in time for her wedding....

kimberleyb  I brought my wedding dress 2 and a half years before the date of wedding. I think it depends on the individual. My weight has always stayed very similiar and never fluctuated so I felt comfortable my shape wouldnt change enough that I would be too skinny or big to fit in it. Kim xx

kookiebek  I got mine 2 years before but it was Perfect and was also half Price so if you find it then its worth getting at the time, as you have a lot of time it may be worth looking at some and if you find one you like PerhaPs wait and see if it comes down in Price in a sale etc xx

glass_doll9  I got mine 2 days ago and we're getting married on the 30th of December 2011. I just couldn't let it go. It's one of a kind and I couldn't risk someone else buying it when I loved it so much.

squrt  i have mind bought put the deposit down in june and getting married 14th may so i just fell in love with it and didnt wont to look at anymore, it depends on u have a look round and maybe just see if you can find a style u like x

kerry3112  I have purchased mine about 10 months before.. Not getting measured for it until about 6 months before though.. the advise I was given is if you find the one it doesnt matter have far away your wedding is. You might regret it if they discontinue the dress and you wont be able to get it in the future. xx

clareandjason2012  my wedding is just over a year and a half away and i found "the one" dress today, a few people have already said "wow thats a bit quick" but reading all the posts from the ladies on here it isnt too early to find your dress, the shop im getting it from also had a sale on this weekend so getting it for just over half price too!! what i want and a bargain!! not going to start the alterations and fittings till next year, they will hold the dress for me till then but soo excited xx

My little sis bought her dress, it was £2500 and she loved it. The store kept it in storage for her for nearly a year.
2 month before the wedding she went for a fitting and realised that she hated everything about it and had to start from scratch again, paying another £1300 for a dress. I would be devastated!
I have 18 month before my wedding and thought I found my dream dress but Im going to hold off. I know it wont be there by the time I am ready to buy, but im certain there will be another 'dream' dress around the corner.

angelil  Mine was bought in October 2009, with my wedding being in April 2011. Although I love my dress I have in a way regretted it ever since as my mum has been on my back about making sure I don't put on any weight the entire time. I'm sensitive enough about my weight as it is The dress will be delivered in February and I am terrified. On fitness regime now for sure and I could do without the stress of it tbh.

lollypop88  I am getting married in august 2012 and started looking at dresses in October. I didn't intend on buying a dress but i certainly found 'the one', so there seemed no point in looking any further, you will know when you find it regardless of whether it is two years, two months or two weeks before the big day. The trick is not to keep on looking, once you have found your dress and put down the deposit, stop looking. Congratulations and good luck!

kookiebek  @lollypop88 totally the same. I found my dress in May 2009 and getting married in July this year. I was just messing with my CB when we found it and as it was half price (£600- rather than £1200) I ujmped on it. I think that just playing around can really help as you dont need to be too serious just yet but if you find the one then I say go for it!x

jezibella83  Oh wow, you girls have set my mind at rest, I found the perfect dress which is definately 'The One' back in August 2010 and my wedding is in February 2013, I haven't bought it yet because I felt two and a half years was too early but reading your posts I am definately going to buy it soon even if it is a two year wait. I am the same as @kimberleyb in that I'm lucky because my weight has always stayed very similiar and never fluctuated so I feel confident that my shape won't change much between now and then. I also agree with @kerry3112 - if you find the dress you love and can't get it out of your head just buy it because it is clearly the one. Like @lollypop88 says: you won't find a better dress if you stop looking! I am going to buy my dress in the next couple of months. My venue is booked already so it's all exciting!

minx1684  I got my dress in June 2010 and am getting married in June 2011. A friend of mine is getting married in May 2012 and has had her dress on order since April 20101 I knew exactly what I wanted and got it at a great price!x

getmetothechurchontime  I bought my dress in April 2010 and don't get married until june 2012 but there was no way I was risking the dress I loved not being there closer to my wedding day, if you see something u really want go for it.

becky260512  I started looking for my dress about 14 months before my wedding (so 7 months ago) and started to panic and eneded buying one and regretting it I have bought another now whcih I absolutly love. The reason I didnt get it origonally was because it was waaay over bugdet but I put an add on sellmyweddingdress and soemone contacted me and i got my dress for less than half price!! It is second hand but looks brand new just need to have it shortened which will cost about £30 apparently.

mrslightfoot  I don't see the harm in buying early so long as you get it in a realistic size and you KNOW its the right one

I went out shopping with the girls in July and found the real dream dress and bought it straight away without having to think twice. I paid for it and brought it home straight away. I am keeping it at my mams and trying it on every couple of months for the size. Hope youve found something you love.
