I was just wondering are any of you wearing Fake eyelashes for your big day? I have never tried them and I dont want massive eyelashes but just something to help make my eyes pop! If you have tried any which ones are good and are they easy to attach? there are just so many emoticon

im def wearing fakies on my big day. ive got long lashes but just wanted to thicken them up. ive bought mine already... not sure if u can see them as the pic is tiny but you can use them all for a full set or use 2 on each eye in the corners for a little lift, up to u! very easy to apply as they are in little sections. why dont u buy some and give them a try? x

i dont like the really big fake eyelashes like you, but my brother's girlfriend was telling me about these eyelash extention ones that they put on you professionally and they fall out naturally over time, but i think it costs about 80 quid!
My friend had hers tinted at a beautitians and they looked really good, large but natural and she didnt have to wear mascara for weeks. It costs under ten pounds too.
I was considering fakies for a bit but I never normally wear them and i want to look natural and like me on the wedding day so i've decided against it. I May have a trial with the tinting and see how it looks xxxxx

@midz I've used them once, and they were great. They were the Kimberley from Girls Aloud that Boots do. They were a bit tricky to put on, but that might have been something to do with the few voddies I'd had beforehand!! Practice, practice, practice. You don't need to go for expensive ones, realistically you might only wear them for the one day so no point in spending loads on them. If you go to a Boots/Superdrug you should be able to quiz one of the salesgirls as chances are they'll have used them too! xx

@midz I'm using them. Didn't really consider it until I went for my makeup trial and they asked if I wanted them. They only put a few in along the end of my eyelashes instead of a full row and it was included in the make-up price, I was really unsure at first but when I saw them I couldn't believe the difference they made.

I wore false lashes on my wedding day as no matter how much curling and mascara you put on them they just end up flat with no life after a couple of hours. I got my lashes from MAC, they sell so many different types from really natural shorter ones to full on one for £10 a pair and they are re useable too.

I agree with kayubi that maybe if you buy some to give them a try first as if your not use to wearing them it may be better for you to get use to them first as they can feel a little strange at first and if you do wear them on your wedding day you want to be use to them xx

Think I may have to have a go - see how they feel xx thanks for all your input ladies xx
@essex_bride I'm like you I have tried every Mascara under the sun and they still look short - on the one occasion I got them long they somehow vanished after about 2 hours (not good for the wedding day)
@jen150912 I will have to pop into boots next time i'm in town see if I can find some I like the look of.
@jen_kristin think I'll try the fakies first but I like the idea of that tinting thingy x
@kayubi those look nice xx

@midz I use the Eyelure Individual lashes. I find them easier to apply than the strip ones (where one always goes on fine then the other side goes all skewiff) and you can build up however much volume and length you like and in the packet there are 3 different lengths.

I'm definitely wearing false lashes, mine are really thick and long as I'm going for quite a dramatic look (pic below), I normally curl my lashes and wear mascara daily and they do tend to fall flat after an hour or two. Individual ones may be better for you if you've not worn them before, they can feel really awkward when you first put them on, as they push your natural lashes down into your eye line. I would recommend and eyelure lashes though, I've found they have the best glue (I got my lashes cheap from ebay but bought a random pair of eyelure lashes from Boots just so I could use the glue!).

Individual weekend lashes are good and they come in short, medium or long. I usually go for medium as they are just a nice length, without being too unnatural. Im wearing them on my profile picture and no one can usually tel lthat they arent my own lashes. Ask for them in a local beauty salon and try them before hand to see if you like them emoticon x

I had the temporary lash extensions and I loved them. I asked for a natural look so they didn't look over the top. They also lasted for our honeymoon so I didn't need to bother with mascara then. Look around for special offers, I think I paid £30 or £40 for mine.

  • Do not know when the wedding will be
Moving over some other false eyelashes discussion here into the one spot:

katie_reeve I already have long eyelashes and very rarely wear make-up but i was thinking about wearing false lashes on my big day to make my eyes stand out a bit more. What i want to know is; are they comfortable to wear and do they hurt to take off? xxx
20. June 2010 at 17:04

lf1975 They are comfortable and it doesn't hurt to take them off. They are quite difficult to get on properly though - I don't wear them very often so struggle every time!! You can get semi-permanent false eyelashes fitted at beauty salons now but they are quite expensive (I saw £50 at somewhere close to me, they last about 6-8 weeks).
20. June 2010 at 17:09

mrs2b If u rarely ware make up i would asvise against it, as soon as u put mascara on it will change your appearance around your eyes and make you look different, at a lot less cost!
21. June 2010 at 16:55

mrscoe2b If you think your going to cry go for the falsies!lf1975 is right about the salon ones being expensive but for your wedding i think they are prob best cos they look really natural and will last your honeymoon too.plus the type you do yourself my fall off by the end of the night i no i couldnt ever get em to stay all day long!do a few trials first!
21. June 2010 at 19:40

5tephie I don't wear make-up much at all, is waterproof mascara not tear-proof then? I always thought that was the point. This makeup malarky is gonna turn out to be more complicated than I thought.
21. June 2010 at 20:38

mrs2b Yes its tearproof! bless you, my sister was the same didnt wear much make up hardly ever n she did herself up (well i did her up) on the morning and she looked gorgeous. i think it really does make a difference if u dont wear any normally. Dont stress about it have a girly night and do yourself up with soem mates and wine and see the difference yourself
22. June 2010 at 11:25

shellyriannon Why don't you have your eyelashes tinted instead? they will give you that mascara'd look but completely tear proof. Its amazing the difference it makes actually! I like my eyes to be dark anyway so I'm thinking of having mine done - I'll probably wear mascara as well.... Maybe even falsies! LOL I like dramatic eyes.... Think I'll experiment first though - don't want to look like a drag queen on my big day!!
22. June 2010 at 11:31

lyoness My sis in law to be is a hair and make up artist, she swears by MAC false eyelashes wgich she says are around £8.
She as made over tons of brides, who all op for the minimilistic look & the MAC eyelashes set the look off a treat.

boycee @essex_bride had a similar question on falsies:
I don't have particularly long eye lashes and no matter how much curling or mascara I apply to them within an hour or so they always look flat and lifeless, I was going to go for some semi permanent lash inserts, that is until I found out how long it would take for them to be put on and being a bit of an eye-phobe the idea of someone being that close to my eyes for that long is a big no no so it looks like Im going to have to go with falsies on the day. I just wondered if any of you girls can recommend a good brand to go with as there are so many out there. I want the falsies to be as natural looking as possible, not too long yet still give me a full defined set of lashes for my wedding day... Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated xxx

ajb2b Eylure definitely have the best glue! different shapes of lash suit different peoples eye shapes so I'd recommend trying a few different styles.
I would also really recommend the individual lashes that eylure do, I use them a lot and they last longer and are more secure than the strip lashes. When I went to get lashes applied at the beauticians these are what they used. They are a bit tricky to apply, especially if you are a bit of an eyephobe!

They seem to be on 3 for 2 in boots quite often.
Good luck.

wilsonsoon2bcollins @essex_bride mac! Ive a mac make up artist doing my make up and i had my trial the other day..they look wicked! They dont look fake, which can happen with alotta lashes. I too have lifeless lashes, i crimp em but they just flop after a while, the mac lashes are a tenner and so worth it and reusable! X
Yesterday at 08:51

essex_bride @wilsonsoon2bcollins Which ones do you use as there are so many different styles when I look online, I use a lot of their make up anyway and was planning on having a bit or a splurge at our local MAC counter in the next week or so as Ive decided even though Ive got my cousin who is a make up artist doing my make up the idea of specific make up products being used on me that have been used on others make me cringe. would rather buy x
Yesterday at 09:59

wilsonsoon2bcollins @essex_bride think they were number 43. First time ive ever used them, well had them put on me and i absolutely loved them! X
Yesterday at 10:13

meeeshel @essex_bride what about semi-permanent, i had those they last two weeks and don't take as long to put on but have the same "wow" and natural look as the semi-perm. x
Yesterday at 17:16

munchkin79 Hi @essex_bride where in Essex are you?
I have to agree with @ajb2b about the Eylure individual lashes. Just a few stuck on towards the corners make a massive difference without them looking fake and also if you lose one or two it makes no difference rather than an eye caterpillar making its way down your cheek.

essex_bride @munchkin79 Im in Wickford

heggy What about just dying your eyelashes? Mine are blond and it works sooo well and only takes a few mins. Usually costs £10-15
Yesterday at 19:37

rachaelluke im a beauty therapist and we usually recommend a lash tint and then clear mascara, this will darken and define your lashes, lasts about 6 weeks and is cheap to have done, also if you have a few tears you dont have to worry about it running xx
17. May at 12:30

raewright If you already have long lashes, a lash tint and clear mascara would work wonders. I've worn a couple of different false eyelashes before and while they don't hurt to take off or are not uncomfortable to wear as such, I did find them quite annoying as they push your natural lashes down, so I constantly felt like I wasn't opening my eyes properly as the top line of my vision was always a little blurry.
17. May at 12:34

tassarella ooo I like the idea of semi-permanent false lashes. That way they would last for the wedding, blessing and honeymoon , going to the hairdressers in a bit for my hair trial so will have a chat with them about it. I'm going for quite dramatic eyes though. Have to agree with others that if you do not usually wear make-up a lash tint and clear mascara will work wonders for you for the day I'm only thinking about falsies because I love dramatic eyes and I do wear make-up regularly. xx
17. May at 12:47

kirstysmith i bought some wonderfull mascara from th national wedding show it extends lashes as u add on fibers yourself its amazing no need 2 have falses on cos this extendsthem with less hassle
