I've found someone who is charging £80 for me and £50 for each of my bridesmaids, and that includes the trial and travel costs. I'm going to pay for my bridesmaids on the day but I've asked them to pay for their own hair trials.

Whenever I come out of a hairdressers I always hate my hair so I'll have a cut a month before and do it myself on the day.
My poor bridesmaids are at my whim on everything else so I'm letting them do their own hair however they want it, neither are very girlie.

My best quote so far is £35 for the trial and £30 on the day. and £ for BMs trial and £25 on day but that is a lowest estimate appartenly it depends what i decide on having.

i found dvd's on ebay that show bridal hairstyles and teach you how to do it too, luckily my friend is a hairdresser so shes doing my hair. Ive told my bridesmaids to do what they like as they both have very different hair and i dont want to glam them up too much as that is not them, i wanna see the real girls i love on my big day not fake girls however im planning on practicing the bridal hairstyles ect as i attend alot of ball type funtions so it may come in handy.Maybe it is worth looking into for some of you

my bridesmaid doing there own hair (for lots of reasons) and my bridesmaid is a hairdresser so going to do mine so its coasting me nothing but i am thinking that i might see how much the hairdresser by me will do my hair on the day as thinking she might have to much to do.

Both me and my bridesmaid will be £40 each, at our local hairdressers. It's their standard rate for occassion hair. They do a free trail and it's only up the road from my parent's house so no travel costs.

sophie2bgillies@loopylou I think you should wear your hair in the way you normally wear it either up or down but just in a more glamourous way! Mines long, straight and down all the time so I'm having it down but loose curls with sections at side taken back with maybe flowers or a fabby headband! He will love it the way you normally look! Hope that helps x

my hair not sure but make up its £195, thats 4 them 2 come 2 the house at 9 until 1 they dont have a limit of how many the do but theres going 2 b my make up, the 2 mums, 3 adult bridesmaids, 3 younger bridesmaids plus flowergirl will prob want some lipgloss or something as every1 else is getting it done. SO works out about £20 per person 4 make up. And the oler girls hair is simple so no more than 20, younger 1s r having curls and a hairband and me im either having half up haf down with some loose curls or a HUGE chigon at nape of my neck.

lf1975@loopylou I just went to my normal hairdressers as been going there for 7 years, they know me and my hair! It cost £26 for my trial then £61 on the day for mine & two bridesmaids. Think that is pretty cheap though. I also had to go to them but that all worked out ok & still had loads of time to finish getting ready. They were also really sweet and got some bucks fizz in and gave us a wedding card.

I met a woman at a vintage bridal fair at the weekend who does vintage styles using traditional techniques from 1920 -70's, she charges £109 for hair and make-up including a trial.

I was in at the hairdressers today, and asked what their charges were for briadal hairdos - for the BMs it would be £27, and for me about £35, and this is without a trial. I'm still not sure what to do. I was going to try and DIY it, have a practice on each other (prompting girlie pamper sessions!) but part of me just wants us to have a stress free morning on the big day and be pampered! For the girlies who have had qhotes already, what were they? x

Im in my second year of hairdressing by the time i get married i will be fully qualified, but i decided rather than have the extra hassle i would pull in a friend to do mine my moms and i will do the 2 maids. I would reccomend to all brides2b to have trials before your wedding so that you are 100% happy, also salons are normally cheaper than a mobile hairdresser. x

hey ya, i'm having the hairdressers come to the house (5 children in the wedding and really diddn't fancy draging them to a salon! lol) and withought trials its working out at around £200!!!! thats for me, 3 bridesmaids, 3 flowergirls and my mum so don't think its too bad! i'm gonna go for a trial myself but i know and trust the salon and their amazing updos so gonna let them tear on on the day with the bms hairdos! one has short hair anyway so won't need much done xxxx

sammykins@loopylou i'm paying £40 on the day for me and £20 for trial. bridesmaids are £25 on the day, but i'm asking them to pay for themselves. Hairdresser is coming to our venue, and is charging fuel costs on top.

boycee@loopylou there were 2 similar post on this so copying all into the one place here about cost of wedding day hair
clairemugford hiya girls
i was just wondering how everyone is wanting to have their hair for the big day?
also i was wondering how much people r paying for their hair trial and hair on the day?
also are u going to the hairdresser in the morning or r they coming to u??
5. Feb at 20:42
ourbigday Wow that's a lot of questions lol!
Here goes - I am having my hair half up and half down as I like to have my back covered a little. It will be kind of like the picture below, except my hair will be higher on top with a tiara. There will also be less hair down and it will be curly. I am having a veil attached where all the hair will be pinned at the back and will also have a nice hair clip there, to cover the grips and also to have something nice to reveal underneath!
My hair trial was £17, that was for an hours trial, it was cheaper because I did not get it fuller lacquered cause I wanted to take it out straight away so my h2b did not see it. Doing this helped me negotiate the price. On the day it will cost £35 per hour as I have long hair (goes down to the middle of my back), they think it will take an hour to do as it is not too complicated and is being curled with tongs so I will not need to pay to sit under the heater thingy for 30mins! I am having it done in the salon local to me, my 2 bridesmaids amd mum are also having our hair done at the same time and place. We plan on taking champagne and nibbles with us!

5. Feb at 21:37

5. Feb at 22:14

5. Feb at 23:09
mrssteel2b My sister is a hairdresser which is fab news for me!!!! :o) Shes coming to me on the big day and not charging me at all, as shes doin mine and my bridesmaids hair as part of my wedding present! It might me worth asking round all you're friends and have a go at one of them doin it? Remember, hair stylists dont have 2 b 'qualified' to cut hair, so you might find one of your friends/sisters/h2b's family would do just as good a job with a bit of practise! xx
6. Feb at 08:44
mrssteel2b And this is how im havin my hair xx
6. Feb at 08:45
mrsking2b @clairemugford I still have absolutely NO IDEA what to do with my hair. I keep adding pics to my photoblog of ideas but don't seem to be narrowing down my choices - although I do know I want an "updo".
With re to cost, my trial is £25 and on the day its £40. I only trust one person to do my hair and she works in a salon in Bristol so they are opening at 7am so that me, BMs, and Mam can all go down and get our hair done in the morning as the salon is a walk-in ad doesn't do appointments.
We are then coming back to Mam's house where we will be meeting the make-up artist and also the photographer will be coming to the house first
6. Feb at 10:45
googlebug85 im having an up do!! im paying £30 on the day and heading to the salon in the morning of the wedding... my appointment is at 8.30 am where as like @mrsking2b said the make up lady and photographer are coming!! my trial cost me £19.00 and am so so happy with it!!! good luck finding a style!! i did find it tough but sort of gave the stylist free rain on me and she came up trumps lol!! xx
6. Feb at 13:10
aisling I'm not entirely sure what I'm doing with mine, I'm growing it at the mo, I know I want curls and at least part either up or pinned back with mini rose clips. My photo here is me after a quick style at a wedding fair, I have since hired the stylist for my hair and make-up. She charges £109 for doing both at the hotel on the day and a trial the month before at my house.
@mrssteel2b I love your hairstyle
6. Feb at 16:56
ourbigday @mrssteel2b This is similar to the way I am having my two adult bridesmaid's hair.
6. Feb at 17:08
hazzy1978 I will be having an updo for my wedding. I want something like in the picture attached, but with a small bump in the front for my tiara and a sweeping fringe. My local salon charges £30 for a trial (will do as many styles as it takes!) and £30 on the day which I will be having at the salon.
6. Feb at 20:04
littlemissshowoff I'm paying £70 for my hairdresser but this includes the trial and the travelling as she's coming to the house (both for the trial and for the big day). I want half up half down curls with a big flower at the side.
6. Feb at 20:05

baines2haines ive been quoted today on having my hair and my one adult bridesmaid hair done, i get married on bank holiday monday, the quote was £250,!!! i just wanted to know if people though this was reasonable???
29. Oct 2010 at 20:12
littlemissshowoff You've got to be joking! For just you and one bridesmaid? That's ridiculous! I've been quoted £80 for me and £50 for each of my bridesmaids, and that includes the trial and travel costs! I would definately shop around and try and find a better quote.
29. Oct 2010 at 20:27
baines2haines i thought that too, just really hard as im going not getting married in the city i live, going to shop around.
29. Oct 2010 at 20:30
glass_doll9 I think that's really high. Mine will be about £50 and my bridesmaid will be about £40, that's with a free trail and no travel costs as the salon is up the road from my house,
29. Oct 2010 at 20:46
lf1975 That is ridiculous! I guess you will pay more as its a bank hol. I went to my normal hairdressers & they charged £61 for me & 2 bridesmaids. Obviously I had to drive there in the morning but only a couple of miles for me so no stress. Definitely worth shopping around.
29. Oct 2010 at 21:14
aisling Definitely too much, I'm paying £109 for my hair & make-up, including a trial beforehand and she's travelling from from Rugby to just outside Tewkesbury.
29. Oct 2010 at 22:37
annie_t ive been quoted ££0 if half up half down sort of style
or £50 all up
that was at keith francis x
30. Oct 2010 at 11:05
leakylou I had this problem as was quoted £100 hair and £100 makeup. Thought was ridiculous so am still shopping around...Def want mobile hairdresser as if its raining last thing i want to come out of hairdressers paying all that money for it to fall out.. Good luck hon xxx
30. Oct 2010 at 12:33
mrs_madge i'm worried about this as well, well not worried just unsure, i need them to do my hair and makeup as well as my 4 adult bridesmaids and my mum as well - i'm expecting anything up to £300 for all that, anyone had a similar number who knows how much it costs?
30. Oct 2010 at 13:47
mrs2b i would advise to look around! if you know what you want for your bridesmaids maybe dont do a trial but just talk it through with your hairdresser maybe save some money that way.
I am paying 25 for all trials and 35 on the day.
1. Nov 2010 at 15:39
sammykins i'm glad this topic has come up. i've had a few quotes and they're all coming in at around the £400 mark! this is for hair and makeup for me (including trial) and hair for 3 bridesmaids and two mothers.
does anyone think this sounds reasonable?
2. Nov 2010 at 11:32
squrt my make up for me bridesmaid and mam is £55 al together and for hair it is £20 trial £25 half up do for bridesmaid and £40 up do for me, and everyone is coming to my house x
2. Nov 2010 at 14:27
minx1684 My make up is £30 for trial and £35 on the day and my friend is doing the hair for us, so she was talking about sorting me a deal oout! Its meant to be £95 to include trial and the day then £50 for each bridesmaid! Will wait and see what she comes back with!x
15. Jan at 23:42
heggy I'm in a city in Devon and have had similar problems. Am looking at £80 for my hair and another £80 for the trail! It seems a lot, especially as I have short hair!
16. Jan at 18:18
mrshp2b @heggy gosh that is a lot!!! its only the same as if u went and asked them to do your hair for a night out, around £30 where i live. I would not pay more for a trial!! I can understand paying more when they come to your house and are there for a while.
16. Jan at 20:05
googlebug85 i paid £15 for my trial and £30 will be on the day and my daughter (flower girl) was £10 trial and £20 on the day, thats at a salon i use every month for my hair... shop around not always better to have someone come to you if you can find somewhere close by to drive or be driven to!!
16. Jan at 22:11
charlie010791 paying £15 per head x
17. Jan at 02:16
