Wedding dress fittings - Who to take with you?

mrsctobe  @meeeshel I feel for you hun, I took my mum to the first one, then two I was alone and the last one was with my sister. I only had my sister as BM though, so it might be nice to have the CBM there? xx

gina130284  @meeeshel Well lovely I was in the same boat. Lost my fab mum 4 1/2 years ago and the thought of wedding dress shopping without her was very emotional. To make it worse I don't even have any bridesmaids due to going abroad to get married!! However I did choose an honourary MOH who came with me. As H2B is 1 of 3 boys I asked his Mum to come along too as she has no girls she'll never get this opportunity! And lastly I asked my auntie who was very close to my mum.
They were great - different ages and body shapes so had different ideas. But they were all very supportive, and took photos so I could look back at the dresses. All loved my favourite one too and think I made the right decision.

Whoever you choose, ensure it is someone you completely trust and someone whose opinion you value. Don't choose someone who has been jealous of you in the past.

meeeshel  @gina130284 it's awful isn't it, I can't go through anything in the planning without thinking of my mum, mine will be 5 years this year and still as tough as ever. I don't have a mother of the groom either to come as she died 3 months after mine.
I'm now struggling to find dates they can do (can't believe they've got so booked up in the run up to my wedding, when on earth will i fit in their fittings?!) so i think i'll just have to go with who can make it

mysterymeg  @meeeshel I think for the actual fittings 4 people would be too many. Depending on the number of fittings you could take diff people to each so everyone is involved. I had two fittings so you could take 2 bms to each.

meeeshel  @mysterymeg thanks, do they show them how to get you into the dresses at each fitting, and how to bustle you etc? x

mysterymeg  My sis was shown on the last fitting @meeeshel but I'm sure they would show them at each if you asked x

happybee  I think im going to stick to just the one, I took four of my bridesmaids with me dress shopping and although it was fun and we had a giggle, it was a bit hectic...so im thinking il probs just stick with my MOH. That way she can be shown how to do me up and it also gives her an extra little job xx

mrscoops  @meeeshel I have to have two fittings and I am going to go to the first alone and then take my mum and MOH to the second to learn how to get me in the dress and do the bustle. I figure as I dont have the bustle done yet there is no point in the taking a day of work just to see if I need anything taken in (hopefully not out!) on the first one. They have both offered to come if I want them to but I am happy enough going on my own to the first one- maybe thats me being an unsentimental old cow!!lol! xx

mizza1987  i was advised to bring whoever was going to be helping me into the dress so they can be shown how to do it! xx

sophie2bgillies  I don't think you want too many people with you especially on your first fitting as it will be a lot of measuring and pinning probably and not a lot of looking princessy in your dress I think i'll also get quite stressed at mine that they won't get it right lol! xx

thanks girls, well looks like none of them can make it so don't have a choice - been sobbing to H2B tonight as not one is able, even when changing date still too much hard work for them. Luckily my brothers gf who is doing my hair is to the rescue, I couldn't bear going on my own as would be obvious mum wasn't there then. Had a bit of a falling out over text with my sister too so all in all a crap night! even though I understand she has stuff with the kids, but when the another says she doesn't want to travel much and another has 1 sunday free between now and the wedding then my sis says she can't either it was kind of the last straw

rosslyn80  @meeeshel dont change ur dates just 2 suit them hun. u gave thm plenty of notice nd they still sed they cdnt make it. they rnt frnds if they kp making up excuses xx

getmetothechurchontime  I'm taking my sister who is my MOH and has her first fitting the same day. Told my mum I don't want her there as I will get stressed out, I feel bad for not wanting her there but she knows what dress I've picked so it's not like she hasn't seen it and I want her to see it on the actual day properly for the first time x
