Hi lovely ladies, I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and will have an even better New Year So basically, I've been dress hunting since october and would say that only two of the dress shops I've actually been two were worthwhile. Many of the others had a very slim selection and were poor quality and because of that the staff were very pushy. The two which were good had lovely ladies helping me who had plenty of time and advice to give me as well as an extensive selection of gorgeous high quality dresses!
So my question to all of you is do you have any recommendations for bridal shops with vast collections where you had a lovely experience in the london/kent areas?
I've found two dresses i currently like but have no doubt in my mind at the moment that i'm not quite there and have yet to experience the ultimate wow feeling!
I'm now going to try and set myself a target to find the dress of my dreams by the end of january but don't really want to waste my time in shops with sales assistants who are only after their commission! Appreciate all your advice!
Thanks so much for your help! Xxx

I can highly recommend Bliss Bridals in Romford, I went in there by accident once - I had an appointment in another bridal shop just down the road and was already running late, and it was market day so the whole street was full of stalls, then suddenly I saw the words "bridal" and went in without reading it properly. They didn't have me down in the appointment book (naturally) but let me try on loads of dresses anyway. The assistants were a dream, very helpful and suggested styles they thought might suit me, they weren't pushy at all, they were actually listening to what I was saying (which does not happen often in these places). Their prices are really good too, most under £1000.
If you don't like pushy places, I suggest you stay well clear of Berketex Brides, they are unbelievably pushy and would sell you a potato sack for £1000 and convince you it's your dream dress. Of course there might be exceptions but I've been to 3 of their shops and experienced the same every time.
Happy dress hunting x

meeeshel@mrslopez2b I don't think you're alone - I've had a few shitty experiences myself - some people who own bridal shops think they are gods gift to the world just be ause they work for pittance in a wedding shop - I have no idea where the snobbery comes from! I even heard from a friend that a place near me called "brides of berkhamsted" said to one poor young lady "you're too fat to try anything on in here"!! How bloody dare they, people wouldn't put up with it in new look so no idea why people do in bridal shops!
Anyway, back to the point. I went to a couple of places, had no real wow and felt a bit pushed to make a decision when it was my first shop. The place I ended up getting my dress from is called mignonette, just off jnct 10 of the M1. The ladies are lovely in there, not pushy, patronising or anything and always willing to help! Def worth a visit if not too far from you. My only slight issue is they're strict on the 2 fittings so I haven't tried my dress as much as I'd have liked so far, by I suppose that'll make it all the more special!! They also have tons of dresses and a huge selection of maggie dresses, right up to size 32 as well so cater for all!
Good luck! x

Hey. Am going to be a bit contraversial here and recommend the berketex in Watford. They have been great from choosing the dresses.. they let me go around and pick the dresses then they added a few and then I tried them all on. They didnt rush me and gave me honest opinions when asked.. I didnt feel pushed at all.. infact I walked out without committing and went back later. i admit I did get a lirtle freaked out when i did hear some horrid reviews but I have been allowed in to take pics of the dress and called up with various questions. Dress came in last week and yesterday met with the fitter..lovely lady who was very through indeed! I highly recommend them. good lujck! xx

I don't live near you so can't help but when my sister went shopping for her wedding dress 6 years ago she was told nothing would fit her in one of the shops and she was a size 16 so hardly a whopper! My mam phoned the shop and complained the next day and as soon as I decided to go looking for dresses I was told by the mother that I would not be going to 'that shop'!

I found All That Glitters in Croydon/Shirley really good. I found they understood that I actually had hips where others had decided that I was obviously too curvy for their styles of dresses! xx

I got mine in Christina K in maidstone, they were lovely, really helpful and they had a nice choice of dresses or could custom make them for you. I was the only person they allowed in to try on dresses at the time I had booked so I had their complete attention which I did not have in others so I would really recommend them, I too hate pushy sales people but I didnt find either of the women like that at all, they gave their honest opinions and steered me away from number of much more expensive dresses than mine. I tried on (and eventually brought) my size 10 dress in here yet went to another shop half an hour later and the woman very snottily told me I was too big for any of her dresses when i went back again to try on my dress I told the ladies in christina K and they could not believe it! x
