@juju76 The guest list is the most stressful part of planning a wedding. I have prioritised immediate close family and closest friends. I have then told others, who I'd love to invite to the day but can't due to numbers, that I'd really love it of they could come to the church to see me get married then pop off for a meal at a nice restaurant or pub nearby then come back for the evening celebrations. It's the only way I could think of doing it. Hope that helps x

we did our list before we picked a venue then looked for a venue in our price range that could accomodate everyone... to me the guests were the most important part of the day. we were lucky in that we could still afford something we loved but if it had turned out we could only afford a community center or sports hall and fish and chips then thats what we would of done.
sit down and make a list .... invite those you both want there and dont take any c###p from those who tell you to invite great aunt so and so who ignores you most of the time.
good luck

We made a list of anyone we'd really like to come and then reduced it down to fit our venues numbers. Sad to see some people missed off but they weren't the priority people xx

@jezibella83 one way of doing it is to cut out the children! we are only allowed 70 max at ceremony so only having very immediate family children coming, totalling 8, I cant really justify having my friends' children there taking up seats instead of people that would actually appreciate being there, plus kids get bored at weddings and its a nice day off for the parents (being a mum I found this lovely at last wedding we went to!)

@juju76 The guest list was one of the first things we did because we wanted to make sure our 'back home' party venue could accommodate everyone. The last thing we wanted to say to people was sorry we cant accommodate you because we're strict onnumbers... especially after travelling to the Caribbean for the ceremony!!

You do have a while before your wedding but I know what its like once you have something in your head you want it sorted!! Having a rough draft now though will definitely help further down the line. Why dont you and H2B have a wedding night once a month where you get a particular thing sorted?? I've got 5 annual leave days to get rid of before the end of March so I suggested to my H2B that I pick 5 days when he is off and we can get all the stuff for our invites and start those.

Our guest list was the 1st thing we sorted aftergetting engaged!! We were like @katiedarlin. The most important thing for us was that everyone was there.

We made a list by heads of family a bit like a family tree. so did my mums family her brother and sister and their kids then Nanna's family (I am quite close to my great aunts) and their children. Then did same with my dads family and htb's. I went through with different coloured highlighters and prioritised into musts, shoulds, and coulds and took it from there.

We ended up with a village hall and organising everything ourselves to stay in budget and have everyone there. My guest list was over 250!!!!! already had one great aunt and all her kids say they cant come though because it is one of her grandkids is having his 1st holy so all her family are gonna be at that.
