Wedding make-up - how much are people spending?

becky260512  initially it sounded a bit expensive but you are getting quite a lot for your money. It isnt just about cost either if you feel this woman will do a good just and you have confidence in her that is important too

klt02  I only paid £120 for my hair trial, hair and make up on the day, bm, flower girl and mother of the brides hair. She was a mobile hairdresser and make up artist, I had it slightly cheaper as she was a friend but it should only have been £150 anyway.

tinks1985  one of my other fears is that i have really sensitive skin so i need someone who really knows what they're doing and what will be ok for my skin. If someone uses the wrong make-up on me it will cause me to break out in hives which will be the last thing i need on my wedding day! I have talked to this woman and she says she's worked with allergies and sensitive skin before and has a range which is perfect for people with fair, sensitive skin. So that really gave me a bit more confidence!

laraandsteve  @tinks1985 I think that sounds quite reasonable. I've not started getting quotes yet but that seems like a good package. Are you paying for it? If so - sod everyone else xx

tinks1985  @laraandsteve lol, yeah i will be paying for it. I was really impressed with the package when i saw it, especially the fact that she will come and touch up my make-up for the photos cause i've never heard of anyone who will do that before.

laraandsteve  @tinks1985 That's really good! Tell them that they're lucky you're offering to pay for it!! Grrrr, weddings make people say the craziest things! xx

raewright  Sounds like you're getting a good deal to me. Love the fact that she'll stay for photos, I always think it's little bits like that that'll make all the difference. And whenever anyone comments on the price of something we're having, I just smile sweetly and say "well it's a good job you're not the one paying for it then."
I find that shuts most people up

tinks1985  @raewright thanks, I'm hopeless with make-up so i have never even been near a make-up artist in my life so i wouldn't know what's a good deal and what isn't. I loved the fact she'll stay for the photos too. I might try that next time someone comments on the price of things we want for the wedding.

essex_bride  I paid in total £280 for make up for our wedding day although it was my cousin who is a make up artist, this cost included:
-Bridal Trial which my mum ended up having a trial too
-make up artist coming to the venue
-On the day make up for Bride, Mother of the Bride, 4 Bridesmaids and shimmery lip gloss for my two small flower girls and she also painted their nails a pale sparkly colour with their Mums consent
-supply and application of falsies on the bride
- touch ups throughout the day when ever I required them (I had three in total)

I woulld say the quote your getting for the package is a fair price, especially if she is willing to stay to do touch ups, I was lucky that my make up artist was my cousin and she was at the wedding all day anyway so was there to do them but any package offering the artist to be available to do touch ups is really good x

sophie2bgillies  Hey girls need your help. Looking for hair and make up at the mo and had a quote of £365, this includes:
Bridal hair
Bridal make up
2 x Bridesmaids hair
hair and make up trial

To me this is quite expensive! Help really don't want to spend that much!! xx

Mine is costing

£70 hair and make up trial
£120 on day bridal make up and hair
2x £40 bridesmaid make up

alison79  that sounds expensive im getting my trial makeup on the day and 2 bridesmaids for £120.

jezibella83  @tinks1985 False eyelashes are about £50 a pop so that sounds quite reasonable. You are getting alot for your money x
