cicmatag@rachaelluke Originally we wanted palladium rings but can't afford the style we like so now we're both having titanium rings. h2b's is a beautiful two-tone chunky titanium band, mine is a simple 2mm band, however my new engagement ring is quite wide, about 4-5mm so they will look gorgeous together.
Originally I had a white gold engagement ring but as it had to be re-rhodium coated every few months, and as it was a weird shape and nothing would fit around it, we decided to have the diamond from it re-set in titanium. I also had a pink sapphire put in the original white gold ring so now I can wear it as a dress ring Have a look in my photolog for pics x

tinks1985@rachaelluke we're both having matching Palladium bands. Probably with a simple design on but we haven't really decided yet. We definitely know we want matching ones though and h2b really wants palladium

My ring is not a traditional wedding ring as it isn't a band (pic is in my photoblog). My H2B is having a plain band (because of his job). They are both 9ct white gold.

Rings are the next thing I want to get sorted as the cost of gold keeps rising!! We have set a budget of £1000 for the rings, which I dont think is bad considering you wear them forever... its really the only thing from the wedding which you keep forever!!
My Mum passed away 4 years ago and I have her engagement ring which Mike proposed with. I also had her wedding ring but I gave this back to my dad. I did ask him about his thoughts/feelings on me having her wedding ring melted down and altered but he wasnt keen on the idea, he preferred to keep it as it is. Im looking at yellow gold, diamond set wedding rings for myself, but I actually have Mum's eternity ring which is just that!! It seems silly to go and spend hundreds of pounds on a ring which I already have upstairs!!!
As for Mike (H2B) he doesnt really wear jewellery, apart from a ring which his parents gave him for his 18th or 21st bday. He's quite happy to put that on his left hand instead!! And voila...wedding rings done.

rachaelluke@cicmatag @luvbugangel @accidentallyme @tinks1985 @freyakins @rosslyn80 @mrsbaugh2be i dont think i suit yellow gold girls and i think i am allergic to white gold as i cant wear my engagement ring for more than 2 days without it affecting my finger for at least a week so i barely wear it. i want a bling ring, not a traditional band and have seen this one (picture) which i love but its 500 pound and its only silver!! i dont know wether to go with it or not xx

cicmatag@rachaelluke it's gorgeous however I don't recommend silver as a wedding ring as it wears away very quickly if you wear it 24/7. It's probably the rhodium coating you're allergic/sensitive to on your white gold ring. Titanium however is hypo-allergenic, relatively cheap and very hard wearing. I had the diamond from my engagement ring re-set in titanium and paid £200 all in and it's gorgeous. A good jeweller should be able to custom make a ring after your own design, have a look around and get a few quotes and plan long term, you will have to wear that ring for the rest of your life x

I'm having a white gold band which is thicker than my engagement ring with diamonds all the way round, and H2Bs is also white gold thick band with a line round the middle and 3 diamonds going down in the middle. We got them on finance. Mine was £500 and his was 350 xxx

Well after just 'making do' with rings we already had from family members we actually had a ring designed come to the house. Mine is 18ct yellow gold, diamond set. However my engagement ring will be sent away and put into a machine where they take photos of it from every angle. My wedding ring is then designed to fit up against it, rather than there being a gap.
H2B has gone for a 9ct yellow gold band which he's comfortable with.
We get a lifetime guarantee on them too which is great.

is anyone having titanium wedding rings if so, what made you choose titanium above other metals? H2b and i did a bit of window shopping for wedding rings at the weekend and we could not believe the price of titanium rings, in comparison to the palladium we had originally been looking at they were loads cheaper. The only thing putting me off titanium is that it looked really dull in comparison to the palladium.

jen150912@tinks1985 My h2b is having titanium, purely as he likes it! I think it's more of a gents metal as it is duller than gold/platinum/palladium - and you can't argue with the price either! Brian's is from H Samuels, and a range called Tioro if you fancy a look. We will have to take his back to swap for a smaller size, as it's too big now... x

cicmatag@tinks1985 we're both having titanium rings. As h2b is a plumber he needs something that is hard wearing but still looks good and we didn't have a large budget for rings so titanium seemed like the perfect choice.
Mine is also titanium, I think I wrote down the story on this thread earlier, we had the diamond from my original white gold engagement ring re-set in titanium (had to go all the way to Birmingham Jewellery Quarter to have it done) and I absolutely love it. It's quite chunky so I'm having a simple 2mm titanium band to go with it (in the hope that I'll get a nice expensive eternity ring to complete the set at a later date ).
It does have a few surface scratches on it but otherwise it's in perfect condition (and I use my hands a LOT, always banging my ring on something). A normal white gold ring would have lost it's white shine by now and would need a new coat of rhodium on it. This is one of the main reasons I went for titanium, I didn't want to part with my precious ring every 6 months or so to have it re-coated.
The colour is slightly darker than gold/platinum/palladium.
Oh and I found that my old white gold ring got really hot when I was drying my hair and burned my finger every time I used a hair dryer. Titanium does not react like this - although my new ring is significantly bigger than the old one lol
Whatever you choose hun you have to be 100% happy with it as you'll be wearing it for decades to come.
The prices we paid: it cost us £200 to have my diamond re-set in titanium, h2b's ring cost £89 from H.Samuel and my band cost £10 from Amazon (it would have cost pretty much the same anywhere) as I did not want diamonds in it.
