not a silly question-but i am firmly of the opinion that you can wear whatever you like! it is your day after all
there are veils designed not to go over the face if you look on ebay for 1teir veils you will see plenty of designs that are specifically not for putting over the face. you can also wear a 2 teir veil either way so dont worry do what makes you feel comfy.

Have it how you like! I'm having a chapel length veil and most certainly am not having it covering my face! I have a lovely tiara too :]

I think most people don't have it over their faces these days, actually - just how the modern trend has gone. If you're specifically wanting to go for something different from the ex-wives, though, have you considered asking his mother what the other two were like? She's probably more likely to remember wedding details than him anyway, including what their veils did.

It really depends on what you like. I have a couple of friends who did wear it over their face but most of them didn't. I think the days of all brides having to have their veil over their face is dying out. You do what feels most comfortable for you. xx

Heres a fab site 4 veils very cheap and lovely, espec when veils r typically £150!!

I'm wearing a veil and will probably have the first tier over my face when I walk down the isle. My dad is a bit of a traditionalist at heart and I know it's what he'd like and the veil I have look beautiful when it is over my face.

As it is my veil only cost £7. It was meant to be £25 in the shop, although it's actual retail price is closer to 3x that. The lady said I couldn't have it for £7 as it didn't have it's price tag on and beause she thought my mum and I were really nice!

I'm really stuck on how to have my veil...I think Lee would like me to have it over my face, and my hairdresser really liked it...but I was feeling really self concious...what do you girls think?

@glass_doll9 i'm doing the same! i'm putting it over my face for the walk up the aisle, and as soon as i get to the top my dads going to 'unveil me' lol so i can see my fab h2b properly when we say our vows emoticon all personal preferance though! xx

Its really up to you how you wear it. I choose to wear it over my face (till you may kiss the bride) and because it was such an old church and wanted to do it justice, if i'd got married anywhere else i probably just have it floating at the back.

I'm not wearing mine over my face. Mine wouldnt look rite as the crystals on it would be backwards if it was over my face, and to be honest I don't see the point! I don't want something obstructing my view!
