hi just a question to all winter brides as weather forecasts have predicted a very cold season from this months onwards any of you starting to worry about heavy snow etc potentially disrupting the day??? i get marrier on 26th nov and im the type of person to need to worry about something alot of my family live in areas which get affected alot worse in snow conditions! do you think im worrying over nothing or being completely realistic??

@amiejones I can understand why you're worrying. I was BM at a weddign Sat and she stressed all of Friday night and Sat morning. I had to take her phone off her. Unfortunately, the one thing you can't control is the weather. The good thing about a winter wedding (apart from the idea of log fires) is that people know it's going to be cold so can dress accordingly. I know it's hard not to worry but you're going to have to just go with what happens on the day. English weather is so unpredictable so it could be snowing on the 25th but sunny on the 26th!!

  • Do not know when the wedding will be
@amiejones there were several other brides on here with winter weddings planned @charlie11_12_11 @kristinanikita @sheadpalmer @glass_doll9 @mrshstobe and @loz2878 to mention a few emoticon
But from my experience at a friend's winter wedding, where it rained a lot (not quite the same to snow but it was cold and slippery) they had:
emoticon Oversize Umbrellas - the ushers used these to help cover the guests
emoticon Mats at Entrance - so that everyone was not slipping and sliding
emoticon tea, coffee biscuits! I thought this was lovely touch

Like @laraandsteve said you just can't predict the weather, but you can try and be prepared. Bad weather can hit no matter what the season. Maybe for those living in areas where snow hits a lot more, they could consider going round to a friend's/family member the day before the wedding, if the weather forecast that week predicts huge amounts of snow?
Oh, and I just thought, if it does snow, which I think would be highly romantic, you could get some ushers or people to shovel the snow.
xx

@amiejones well im getting wed on Dec 10th i too have seen the weather forcasts but i am not letting it phase me. emoticon My FIL is taking me to the wedding and he lives 45mins drive away near to the church im getting married in! and the snow hits worse there than where i am..ive known them to be stranded and not be abe to drive out of town..this should i guess concern me that i wont be able to get there! however ive decided that come Hell or hhigh water if needs must I will Either walk the journey to get married, or i will have to break the tradition and stay in the same house where my H2B will be getting married! nothing is going to stop my wedding this time. And as all his family live near to the church the most important people will be there! as for the rest of the guests well id say heavy snow is a pretty damn good reason why they didnt turn up...im investing in a few white golfing umbrella's incase of heavy rain..but if all else fails i will be married to the man i love infront of the family ive grown to love and ill get either snowed in and cant travel to the reception or soaking wet and muddy lol..ive given up on the minor details of course im trying to make everything perfect but as already mentioned you cannot control the weather! either way i know that the most important part of it is that i will be getting married to my man and it doesnt matter if theres 10 or 100 guests there or if we have a great reception or tea and biscuits infront of a coal fire at his mums house emoticon

I couldn't care less about the weather to be honest. Most of my family that live any distance away are coming up the day before the wedding and staying over night at the hotel we're getting married at so they can definitely be there. The one set that have even commented on it are my aunt (dad's sister) who made a snide comment that they definitely wouldn't be travelling up if the weather is bad. My response to that is she can explain to my 7 year old cousin why she can't be a bridesmaid. That'll go down like a tone of bricks haha.

The people we really want there will make the effort and are making the effort. If people don't make it, it's not the end of the world. The whole point of the day is H2B and I getting married. As long as that's happens then everything else is a bonus.
